ConAgraFoods team 2 reign at the Streator Chamber Bowling Challenge
What a great day for bowling yesterday at the Bowl Mor Streator- Tim Pallai and his associates provided a welcome location to compete, network, enjoy refreshments and just relax. The weather and further threats were kept outside as the inside was well satisfying for the afternoon.
Scores varied, but in general, quite competitive with the team (Rick Smith, Steve Hrasch, Tyler Akin and Ron Salisbury) sponsored by ConAgra Foods 2 rallied to obtain the first place position with a score 2189. Early leader Countryside Animal Clinic held on for third place with a 1959 total as they were edged out by second place finisher – Streator Unlimited who achieved a 1984 pin total.
Individual highlights for afternoon’s nine pin challenge were provided by William Roach (of Streator Unlimited) and Doug Walker (bowling for OSF Healthcare I), who each rolled perfect 300 games. Steve Hrasch tallied a 266 game while William Roach produced a 245 count.
Other sponsored team participating and challenging the leaders were: SOCU, OSF Healthcare 2, Midland States Bank, Bill Walsh Automotive Group, Streator National Bank, ConAgra Foods 1, Heritage Healthcare/Evergreen Place. Additional team sponsorship support was provided by the Streator Rotary and Streator Kiwanis service clubs.
2018 Chamber Trivia Night
The 2018 version of the Streator Chamber Trivia night has been completed and for the most part all went well. 15 teams competed for first, second and third prizes and the scoring was competitive to say the least. Team Arkels/Cheffer identified 93 correct answers and nudged out team Streator Drugs who garnered 92 points – and by the way, the 92 points did earn the Ramza and Company the Chamber Corporate Challenge award for the evening. In all the corporate challenge produced 9 (ReMax, Midland States Bank, Biz Buzz, Streator National Bank, ComEd, Edward D Jones Investment/G.Wheeler, SOCU, Streator Drugs and OSF Healthcare) contenders.
The evening series of questions and audio pieces were supplied by Trivia Guru’s Gene Anderson and Dr. Sue Schmitt – a most interesting selection of topics challenged the brain thrusts’ Donations provided by sponsors Streator National Bank, Heritage Health/Evergreen Place, Gigi Lansford, Midland States Bank, and Streator NAPA, contributed raffle items. The Chamber thanks the many people who volunteered or participated in any way to help to create an entertaining evening.

With the completion of another Stems and Stilettos Chamber fund raising event the agencies of Blessings in a BackPack and the Walldogs were presented proceeds from the evening. Receiving a check from Doug Patterson fund raising chairman is Gene Anderson of the Walldog program while Laura Anderson of Blessings in a BackPack accepts their reward from Chamber Executive Director Jack Dzuris. Annually the Streator Chamber shares the proceeds from the event to community groups that continue to support and give back to the Streator population for a job well done.
Another Streator Chamber of Commerce and Industry Stems and Stilettos has been completed with a great deal of refreshments, socializing, networking and just plain good fun throughout the evening.
I would like to take a minute to thank you and all who participated in the event in whatever level. The Chamber is grateful for the support of the good people of Streator and throughout, and without your continued participation our operations and efforts would be limited. We’re most appreciative to all who contribute to the Streator Area’s “Quality of Life”.
We’re all in this together – the ball has begun rolling, let’s keep it in motion. Good things are going on in Streator and more is out there if we can pull together offering solutions and not just identifying the challenges we may have.
A Big Thanks,
